Last Thursday, May 9, was a banner day for the Timber Lake High School track program, as the Panthers dominated the Little Moreau Conference meet - winning the boys varsity, junior high boys and junior high girls team championships and finishing runner-up in varsity girls competition. The Panther boys amassed 218 points to finish well ahead of Lemmon at 152 and Dupree with 103.

Panther golfers claim third at Black Hills Classic in RC

The Timber Lake Panther boys golf team posted a third place finish at the Black Hills Classic played at Hart Ranch near Rapid City on Monday, May 13, with two players medaling with top five finishes. Wall won the team title with 245 strokes, followed by Hill City with 248 and Timber Lake with 261.

TL golfers garner second place in LMC Tournament

The Timber Lake Panther golf team claimed second place honors in the Little Moreau Conference Tournament hosted by Bison and played in Belle Fourche on Friday, May 10. Lemmon took home the team title with a 290 while the Panthers followed 12 strokes back at 302.

Larson fires 43 to win Newell Golf Invitational

McIntosh golfer Wyatt Larson, three-time defending Little Moreau Conference and Region 6B champion, carded a 43 to win top honors at the Newell Golf Invitational last Tuesday, April 30, where competitors battled cool temperatures and high winds.

Area competitors place at high school practice rodeos

The South Dakota High School rodeo season is underway and several area competitors have earned a few points in the early going. Next on the schedule is Faith on Sunday, May 12. Competing in Wall on Saturday, May 4, Minda Woodward of the Dupree High School Rodeo Club claimed top honors in barrel racing with a time of 16.248 while Easton Eisemann of Glenham, a member of the Timber Lake Rodeo Club, won the saddle bronc event in the second round of the Quatro Crown Rodeo in Burke on the same day with a 55 point ride.

Panther JH squads capture 20 first place medals in Lemmon

Timber Lake’s boys and girls junior high track teams carried 20 first place medals home from the Lemmon JH Track Meet last Tuesday, April 30, with five athletes capturing more than one top finish. The Panther JH boys accounted for 13 top finishes and the girls had seven.

Timber Lake relay teams place at Howard Wood

The Timber Lake boys relay teams ran in four events at the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls last Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, with two squads posting top 10 finishes. The Panther 1600 meter relay team of Holden Gill, Cole Ducheneaux, Gracen Hansen and Gavin Farlee clocked in at 3:37.24 to finish fourth overall while Ducheneaux, Farlee and Gill teamed with Carter Keller to earn eighth place in the 1600 sprint medley relay with a time of 3:47.57.

Region’s top talent on display at Timber Lake Invite

Some of the region’s best track and field talent was on display last Thursday, May 2, at the Timber Lake Invitational, with the hometown Panthers hosting athletes from Faith, Lemmon, McIntosh, McLaughlin, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte and Tiospaye Topa, as well as Standing Rock and Hettinger-Scranton, ND, at Doug Kraft Field.
