Connie M. Tichi, 75, died on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Rapid City with the Rev. Joshua Jones officiating. Burial was at Hillview Cemetery in Isabel. Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City was in charge of arrangements. Connie was born on February 8, 1939 near Isabel to Percy and Frieda (Lutz) Whittlinger. She grew up in Isabel and married Samuel Tichi there. She eventually moved to Rapid City from Pierre in 1998 and retired after seven years with Rapid City Regional Hospital. Connie was a very hard worker and was very generous. She enjoyed baking cakes for any occasion and welcomed people into her home. Connie like playing cards, bingo and watching the Price is Right, Dr. Quinn and JAG. Connie was a life member of the DAV Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of Minneluzahan Senior Center and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Survivors include four daughters—Margaret (Tom) Broadbent of Black Hawk, Susan (Tony Rodriguez) Scheuermann of Salinas, CA, Patricia (Eric) Seim of Rapid City and Vicky Bodily of Brigham City, UT; a son, Allen (Rosenda) Tichi of San Jose, CA; her significant other, Ken Mowrer of Rapid City; four sisters— Donna (Keith Lowary) Tichi of Aberdeen, Betty (Norman) Hieb of Timber Lake, Elsie (Olaus) Njos of Nemo and Janice (Chuck Davidson) Bostelmann of Mound City; a brother, James (Mary) Young of Atlanta, IN; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 3 great-greatgrandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frieda Young; her father, Percy Whittlinger; her stepdad, Warren Young; her daughter, Alice Gorman; her brother, Lewis Whittlinger; her grandson, Kenneth Heuer; and a great-granddaughter. Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1630 Rushmore St., Rapid City, SD 57702.
