State tournament notebook

By Robert Slocum
It was a great time at the State B tournament in Huron last week. Even though TL did not win a game there, the Panthers represented themselves very well and played hard in each game. Being the 8th team at state is still quite an accomplishment and I hope the girls enjoyed playing in the tournament to cap off a terrific season.
Perhaps more disappointing than the losses was that the Panthers weren’t really allowed to play their best game with their full court press. They still forced plenty of turnovers, 18 per game, and scored a total of 50 points off of turnovers, but foul trouble was a factor for TL in each of the three games. Timber Lake was called for a whopping total of 64 team fouls in the three tournament games, compared to 38 against TL’s opponents. That’s 64 fouls versus 38, or 21.3 vs. 12.6 on a per game basis.
