Local law enforcement waging war on methamphetamine problem

Methamphetamine is toxic, dangerous, and prolonged use can be significantly harmful to a person’s physical and psychological health, but experts say the powerful stimulant is spreading here on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation and across South Dakota.

Local and state officials agree that meth use has become an epidemic. The rise of the synthetic substance, despite the myriad and grievous consequences of getting involved with it, is largely because meth is a highly addictive substance. It takes a grip on the user and quickly sends them into a spiral of dependency and enslavement to the drug.
