Rayetta Marie Perrett passed away peacefully with her husband and loved ones by her side on March 31, 2017 at her home in Port Townsend, WA. Rayetta Sorge was born August 8, 1952 in Hazen, ND and attended school in Bismarck, ND. She and her family moved to Isabel for her senior year. It was there she fell in love with her husband to be, Jerry Perrett, in 1969. They married in 1972, and had been together almost 50 years. Their first home was in the Deadwood area. They also lived in Mississippi, Nebraska, Oregon and Florida. From the early 1980s on, Rayetta and Jerry were full time glass etching artists. They traveled in nearly every state across the country doing major arts and crafts shows, custom work, and selling to galleries. Rayetta loved traveling in their camper, making friends along the way and having back road adventures. Rayetta was also an avid gardener and landscaper. At their home in Port Townsend, she planted and nurtured her yard and personalized her home. Rayetta’s eclectic yard was part of the Secret Garden tour in 2013 as shown on their web site Glassetchingsbyperrett.com. Rayetta and Jerry were also on the Art Port Townsend Home Studio Tour, every year displaying their etched glass. Their glass studio was open to many visitors throughout the years. Rayetta was strong in her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1974. She firmly believed in the resurrection, and that Jehovah God was caring for her and her future life in a paradise earth with her family and loved ones. Even after learning she would pass away soon, she never gave in to self-pity, but encouraged her loved ones not to mourn her death. She recognized this life is only temporary, and the real life is ahead. Rayetta was preceded in death by her father Walter Sorge, her mother Marie (Wegner) Sorge, and her brother Don Sorge. She is survived by her husband Jerry Perrett; her brother Ron Sorge; sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, and grandniece. Services were held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Port Townsend, Saturday, April 15, 2017. (Jerry Perrett’s address is 2132 Sheridan St., Port Townsend, WA, 98368 or email at glass@cablespeed. com.)
