Sheriff: “We need your help”

Standing in front of a small gathering in the Timber Lake School theatre, Dewey County Sheriff Les Mayer on Thursday made an emotional, heartfelt appeal to all members of the local communities. His message: The drug problem here is worse than many understand it to be, it’s affecting younger people all the time, and law enforcement needs help from citizens.

Mayer was making a welcome and introduction for the open community meeting held to raise awareness for the new program, Project Stand Up, which allows people to anonymously text tips to law enforcement.
