Candidate Dusty Johnson makes stop at Timber Lake

Dusty Johnson, Republican candidate for South Dakota’s lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, stopped in Timber Lake last week and spent a few minutes talking with the Topic reporter about issues. What he’s most concerned about, Johnson said, is that it’s getting harder for people to work their way into the upper and middle class.

Some people think more and bigger federal government is the answer, the former Public Utilities Commissioner said, “but those programs build dependence.” While there are dozens of programs to help people, he asks why an able bodied 26-year-old should “get a better deal.”
