Girls basketball postseason play is underway, despite a delay due to weather.

The Region 8B girls tournament started Tuesday, as first round contests were hosted by the higher seed.

The first round games were supposed to take place Monday, but the snow caused things to change.

The top five seeds, #1 Faith, #2 Timber Lake, #3 Dupree, #4 McIntosh and #5 Lemmon, all earned a bye and were set to play at Buffalo Thursday, Feb. 22. Tournament semifinals are set for Friday, Feb. 23 at Buffalo, with the two winners advancing to the round of 16. Those “Sweet 16” teams from across the state will be re-seeded and will play at the site of the higher ranked team on March 1. Those teams emerging victorious from that round will be the 8 teams at the Class B state tournament next month.
