CRSTTA considering fiber for Timber Lake

Editors Note: In response to some questions from the Topic regarding access to the fiber optic system, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Telephone Authority (CRSTTA) issued the following press release this week:

Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Telephone Authority, the first tribally owned telephone company in the United States, began a $37.8 milliondollar fiber project in 2009 to deploy fiber to every residence and business located in each of its five traditional exchanges or service areas (Eagle Butte, Dupree, Isabel, LaPlant, and South Dupree).

The project was completed in 2016 and approximately 1,511 miles of new, state of the art fiber optic cable and electronics were deployed throughout the CRSTTA exchanges/ services areas on the Cheyenne River Tribe Reservation.
