Active shooter training held at school

On May 30, the Timber Lake School and Dewey County Sheriff ’s Office hosted an active shooter training for 15 law enforcement officers from surrounding agencies. The officers were taught basic tactics when responding and were given multiple scenarios, and practiced those tactics. The object of the class was to put officers in stressful situations and to increase their ability to respond to active shooter incidents, if one were to occur. The class was taught by Corson County Deputy Sheriff Alan Dale and Walworth County Deputy Sheriff Travis Bentz.
