Lakota Vogel, Executive Director of Four Bands Community Fund, said at the ground-breaking on June 8 that a building for incubating new businesses was part of the FBCF original plan 18 years ago. Construction on the 6400 square foot building on South Main Street in Eagle Butte is beginning now, with a Dec. 27 completion date.

The building will house at least six business offices as well as space for Four Bands staff. Voegl said interest has been expressed for a coffee and bagel shop, a physical therapist, a general contractor, and an ice cream shop. A $990,00 grant will help pay for the $1.3 million project. Cora Mae Haskell, who has been with Four Bands for 15 years, said, “I taught the CREATE class for years and there was no place for people to start a business. This is really a blessing.”
