A petition calling for a vote on the Timber Lake City Council’s decision to vacate the alley in Block 5, the proposed site of a Family Dollar Store) is being circulated (Resolution #1067).

Jean Tehle, who is carrying the petition, said Tuesday she had more than 40 signatures and intends to file the petition by the deadline (20 days after the resolution as published) which is October 3. The law requires a referendum petition to be signed by 5% of the number of registered voters in the municipality as of the second Tuesday of January. According to the Dewey County Auditor, there were 308 people registered on that date (January 9, 2018) so the required number is 16.
