SoDak 16 win sends Panthers to Aberdeen

Frank Sinatra sang that love is lovelier the second time around. If that’s the case, Panther basketball fans will be in for a doozy at the Class B boys state tournament this week at Aberdeen. After qualifying last year for the first time since 1996 and rallying to the consolation championship, the Panthers are headed back to Northern State’s Barnett Center after advancing out of the SoDak 16 round last week.

Waiting for the Panther players and Timber Lake students and fans are three exciting days of basketball on the biggest stage.

In round one of the tournament this Thursday, the #2 Timber Lake Panthers take on the #7 Bridgewater-Emery Huskies. The Panthers advanced to the state tournament after beating Wolsey-Wessington in the SoDak 16 qualifier game. Both teams were the leaders in their respective regions. Timber Lake enters postseason play with a record of 18-2 while Bridgewater-Emery enters with a 19-4 record.
