Commissioners consider hiring planners, working with Tribe

In February, the Dewey County Commissioners heard a presentation by David Reiss from the Central South Dakota Enhancement District, which assists counties and cities with zoning ordinances, grant writing and other services.

At their March 12 meeting, Reiss had a few more specifics on costs of membership, and alternately, hiring the CSDED on a fee for service basis but the board did not make a decision on whether to proceed.

The City of Timber Lake and the Town of Isabel had expressed interest in the CSDED. No city representatives attended the March meeting although Auditor Kyrie Lemburg had invited them.

Reiss said any of the entities can hire CSDED for individual projects on a fee for service basis but those who are members have priority on the work schedule. Cities cannot be members unless their counties are.
