The Dewey County Commission met in two sessions on Tuesday, first to handle equalization of property assessments and then to conduct regular April business.

Sitting as the consolidated county board of equalization, the commissioners considered appeals presented by Director of Equalization Brandy Meier.

Attorney Eric Bogue represented Francis Zacher in his appeal of the valuation of 1.4 acres of property located along Highway 212 near the Eagle Butte city lagoons. Meier had assessed the property at $39,025. The property has not been developed but does have access to city utilities. It has been leased for grazing for about $500 a year, nearly the same amount as the annual taxes.
