Marvin Bertsch, Korean War veteran, is thanked for his service by South Dakota’s US Senators, John Thune and Mike Rounds, while on an Honor Flight to Washington, DC on May 7.

Marvin Bertsch, a veteran of the Korean War, and his daughter, Edith Grefsrud of Fargo, ND, at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. They traveled on May 7 as part of the Midwest Honor Flight.

May 7, 2019 was a dream come true for Korean War Veteran Marvin Bertsch, a retired barber from Isabel and McIntosh. It was on that day he, along with his daughter, Edith Grefsrud, joined 82 veterans to fly to Washington, DC on a Midwest Honor Flight.

He was able to experience the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery, the Korean Memorial, the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, along with memorials for the Air Force, Navy, Army and the Army Air Force, the predecessor of the Air Force.
