The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Telephone Authority has been awarded a Connect South Dakota grant of $474,500 for its Timber Lake Fiber Project.

CRSTTA is also seeking federal funding for the rest of the cost of the project, which will bring high speed internet via fiber optic to the community.

Connect South Dakota, the state program designed to fund broadband projects in unserved and under served areas across the state, has awarded a total of $5 million to its first grant recipients.

The money was approved by the S.D. Legislature in March. The initial $5 million will leverage more than $11.4 million in project costs.
