Refresh, recharge, rethink

Refresh, recharge, rethink. That’s part of what a gathering of any professional group can offer. So it is with newspaper people.

Bob and I spent a couple days with colleagues at the joint convention of the South Dakota Newspaper Association and the North Dakota Newspaper Association last week. On alternate years we have a joint meeting, and the other years we each have our own convention.

Lucky for us, this year, the North Dakota folks were hosts (They did all the work) and the location was Medora. I hadn’t been to the North Dakota Badlands since the 1980s so this was a real treat. Besides the beautiful scenery, the stimulating meetings and a bunch of awards to bring home, we were well entertained by the Medora Musical, President Teddy Roosevelt (one of about a dozen actors who portray Medora’s most famous parttime resident) and some social time at two of their three or four museums.

Had the convention been a week later, we would have seen the Elite Energy Cloggers from Timber Lake as one of the acts at the Medora Musical. (They will perform there this weekend.)
