The Timber Lake Panthers moved to 6-1 on the season Monday night in a 62-0 drubbing of the Bison Cardinals. It was the final home game for the Panthers, who went 3-1 at their home field this season.

The regular season finale will be this Friday at Harding County. The Ranchers are also 6-1 and sit atop the Region 4B standings, with one loss (the season opener) to the Wall Eagles. Timber Lake is a playoff team in Region 4A but Wall (6-1), Philip (6-1) and Sully Buttes (7-0) are ahead in seed points and in position to receive the three automatic bids. If TLHS does receive one of the Class A at-large bids, they currently have the edge in seeding points across the state, potentially making them a 13 seed.

The scoring came early and often Monday, as Kedrick Martin passed to Matt Jewett on the Panthers’ first play from scrimmage for a 48-yard touchdown connection. After that, the Panthers recovered their own onside kick, and Isaac Kraft ran 38 yards for a TD on the very next play. It went from there until the Panthers had reached the 50-0 threshold with 6-plus minutes left in the first half. That gave time for TL’s reserve and younger players to see the field in varsity action.
