Timber Lake’s standout football season came to an abrupt end in Warner Thursday night, as the Monarchs won their first round 9A playoff game 50-0 over the Panthers.

The playoff atmosphere, a relentless Monarch offense and four turnovers were too much for the Panthers to handle as they were held scoreless for the first time in several seasons. The playoff loss ends this season for TLHS at 6 wins, 3 losses.

Timber Lake reeled off 4 straight victories to open the season, besting Dupree, Faith, Newell and Potter County. A loss to Lemmon/McIntosh was followed by wins over New Underwood and Bison before a loss to Harding County finished the regular season schedule.

Ryan Gimbal, an assistant coach for several years before taking the head coaching role this season, praised the team’s commitment to maintaining a winning program. This was TL’s 3rd season in a row to reach the playoffs.

“It was a great first season as a head coach,” Gimbel said. “The kids worked for Coach Martin and I. A good majority of them put in a large amount of work in the off season and it truly paid off for them. We lost a couple of tough games against some very good competition, but the boys never stopped battling.”
