The Timber Lake City Board accepted Ryan Farlee’s bid Monday night: $500 for the Timber Lake Broadband enterprise, which he had managed for the city until his resignation a month ago.

Farlee, who dropped in briefly at the end of the meeting, said he plans to merge TLB with his other business, Advanced Wireless. His bid letter stated, “I plan to keep the system running but as you know it requires some major upgrades and will be losing many subs to the fiber.”

The change of ownership is to take place on November 15, following a special meeting on November 12 to finalize the purchase agreement between the City and Farlee.

City Finance Officer Karla Nordyke will work with Cheryl Bogue, city attorney, to prepare the purchase agreement.

On the way to the vote, board members weighed the pros and cons of accepting Farlee’s bid, which is significantly lower than the $100,000 estimated value of the system.
