Four Cheyenne River girls compete for Snow Queen

Four young women represented their schools and communities, and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, at the annual South Dakota Snow Queen Pageant in Aberdeen last weekend. L-R are Ki’Tu LeBeau,TyRel Thompson, Tiana Kohlus, and Alscessa Elsey.

The Annual Snow Queen Festival was held from January 9-11 marking the 74th time this event has been held in Aberdeen. The winner of this year’s pageant was Chesney Olson from Langford.

Four Witansna un can (young Lakota maidens) with ties to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe were among the contestants.
