A balanced scoring attack and feisty second half defense lifted the Timber Lake Panthers past Class A Rapid City Christian 63-55 in boys basketball action Saturday.

The Panthers, who improved to 7-3 on the season, hosted Dupree on Tuesday as a warm-up for the Little Moreau Conference Tournament, which gets underway today (Thursday). Timber Lake will host Bison in the first round of the tournament with quarterfinals and finals being played in Faith on Friday and Saturday. With the loss to the Panthers, Rapid City Christian dropped to 7-5 overall.

Down 19-13 in the first quarter, Timber Lake chipped away at the deficit to get within one, 30-29, just before the halftime break. The Panthers outscored the Comets 34-25 in the second half, pulling ahead 44-42 on a buzzer- beating tip-in by Taylor Goldade to end the third stanza, and sealed the victory with a 19-13 run in the final frame.
