Dakota Daughters to perform March 19

The Dakota Daughters will portray three fictional characters in “Wounded Knee - Three Women, Three Stories, Three Cultures” at Timber Lake on Thursday, March 19. Two performances are scheduled - one at the school theater at 2 p.m. and one at the Museum at 6 p.m. Geraldine Goes In Center (MIDDLE) portrays Sitting Bull’s daughter; Lillian Witt (RIGHT) portrays Sadie Babcock (a rancher’s wife) and Joyce Jefferson (LEFT) portrays Mattie Elmira Richardson, who is engaged to a Buffalo Soldier. The free public program is sponsored by the Timber Lake & Area Historical Society with a grant from the SD Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
