After more than two months with only a handful of COVID-19 cases confirmed on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, the number rose to 33 on July 10 and 40 on July 14, causing tribal officials to order that face masks be worn in public at all times and residents refrain from any non-essential travel or contact with others.

A second round of mass COVID testing was conducted beginning July 9 in Eagle Butte and continued at Cherry Creek, LaPlant and Dupree.

COVID-19 testing will be available in Timber Lake on Thursday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Center parking lot. The testing is free-of-charge to all residents of the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, regardless of race or tribal membership status.
