The corn and sunflower crops in the area are looking pretty promising. According to Mike Huber of Agtegra, they are coming into the critical stage for pollination and seed fill. “The potential for high yielding row crops is good if we can catch some timely rains,” Huber said. “Warm wet weather would be ideal, not hot dry weather.” Most of the discussion at the crop tours at the Biegler and Bieber farms last week was focused on spring wheat. “The wheat from Timber Lake west has been hurt most by dry hot weather especially on the sandy ground,” Huber said. “As we moved east the wheat crop gets better because of timely rains that have fallen.”
