Community Conversation set for July 17

What could improve the economic health of the Timber Lake community?

What could make this a better place to live?

Who could do something about either of those — and how?

That gives an idea of the focus of a community meeting to be held Monday, July 17, sponsored by Timber Lake & Area Development and the Timber Lake Topic. Everyone is welcome to attend the “Community Conversation” to begin at 7 p.m. at Big Dad’s and to bring ideas, suggestions and questions.

Football field project moves first two games out of town

As renovations to the Timber Lake School’s football field take place this summer, some changes have been made to the upcoming football season schedule. Hedging against the progress of new grass, Supt. Dan Martin announced recently that the school’s first two scheduled home games will be played away instead.

This will leave the Panthers with two home games for the 2017 season, but Martin said Timber Lake will host six home games in 2018. The Panthers will open the season at Faith on Thursday, August 17. In addition to being moved from Timber Lake to Faith, the contest was also moved to the 17th from the 18th. Both schools agreed to play on a Thursday due to 4-H rodeo finals being held that weekend starting on the 18th.

Students learn skills, make money at their summer jobs

By Mersedes Rough Surface

Many students this summer are filling in spare time with labor. Whether it be branding for a neighbor, cleaning, or baby sitting during the day, students are using the spare time to make money. Though some students could not care less about pay and just want something to occupy their time, others are taking advantage and using the job to save up for something special. Although we could carry on thinking about the peculiar things children could choose to buy, some are choosing to spend their money wisely and are looking toward what would benefit them for the future.

There are many different jobs a student could take on. For example, they could start a small mowing business, or work for someone else whether it be baby sitting or working a cash register.
