Bruce Schweitzer and Troy Long graduated from Mitchell Technical Institute on May 9 at the Mitchell Corn Palace. Bruce earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Utilities Technologies. He is the son of Faron and Marilyn Schweitzer of Glencross.

Voters will choose Ward or Enright for District 2

Democrats in Dewey County Commission District 2 will vote June 3 to choose a nominee for the commissioner seat held by LeRoy DuBray, who is not running for reelection. The candidates are Rod Enright of Timber Lake and Laura Ward of White Horse. Since there is no Republican or Independent running for the position, the winner of the Democratic Primary will be unopposed in the general election in November. District 2 includes the voting precincts of Timber Lake, White Horse, Promise, Glencross and Trail City.

Dakota Service Center begins operations

Carol Laib, CEO, and Tommie Mettler, Retention Manager, have started training employees for the new call center in Timber Lake.

Dakota Service Center, a new loan processing company, has hired 20 people and begun training employees in Timber Lake. The office is located in the Aberle & Aberle building on Main Street, where extensive remodeling has been underway in recent weeks. DSC will officially launch loan servicing in early June. Carol Laib of Isabel is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dakota Service Center. As such, she is responsible for day to day operations, hiring of personnel, and overall management of the operations. Her main office is in Isabel.

Allerdings retiring

Dean Allerdings (RIGHT) participated in his last school awards day last week, here presenting an award to student Shaun Maher, a sophomore at Timber Lake High School. Allerdings will be retiring from teaching. He came to Northwest Area Schools in 1978 as one of the first teachers in the new vocational co-op.

More resignations, hirings for 2014-2015 school term

The Timber Lake School Board accepted six resignations and approved the hiring of three new teachers for the 2014-2015 school year at the May board meeting Monday night. School Counselor Diana Holzer submitted her resignation to accept the position of school psychologist at the Meade County School District at Sturgis.
