Sister Donata Daml, 81, a Sister of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, died January 27, 2018, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

The Mass of Resurrection for Sister Donata was February 1, 2018, in Blessed Sacrament Chapel at Presentation Convent.

Edith Meland

Age 98

Edith Meland, 98, of Dupree and Bison passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Mott, ND.

Funeral services for Edith will be held at 11:00 a.m. MT on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church in Bison with Pastor Florence Hoff officiating. Fellowship and a luncheon will follow the funeral. Burial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. MT at the Dupree Cemetery.

Lavonne I. Lawien, 90, of Belle Fourche died Friday, February 2, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spearfish. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place in the Black Hills National Cemetery.

Frances Marion McDaniel, 94, passed away on February 1, 2018 at the VA Black Hills Care System in Hot Springs.

Services were held Feb. 6, 2018 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Burial with military honors followed at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis..

June 2, 1951 – January 17, 2018

Ronald Tomac, 66, longtime Keldron area rancher, passed away at home, January 17, 2018 after a courageous ten month battle with a rare cancer. Mass of Christian Burial for Ron was January 23, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at Morristown. Ronald Gregory

Tomac was born June 2, 1951 at the Lemmon Hospital to Tom and Grace (O’Donnell) Tomac, the youngest of six children. He grew up on the Tomac Ranch south of Keldron. Karen Ducheneaux Nitzschke

October 28, 1941 – January 21, 2018

Karen Nitzschke, 76, of Swiftbird passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at her home. A remembrance ceremony was held January 27, 2018 at the Ducheneaux Chapel at Swiftbird. Burial was in the Ducheneaux Family Cemetery at Swiftbird. Karen Rae Ducheneaux was born on October 28, 1941 to Frank and Ellen “Babe” (Claymore)

Ducheneaux at the Old Cheyenne River Agency. She was the seventh of their eleven children. Her siblings were Joan (LeBeau), Henry “Bud,” John, Wayne, Anthony “Claire,” Franklin, Rochelle, Greg, Les, and Candace. Karen grew up in various locations on the Cheyenne River Reservation such as the old house at Stove Creek and the Old Cheyenne River Agency when her parents moved to town. She attended the Cheyenne River Boarding School, St. Joseph Indian School, and eventually graduated from Cheyenne River High School in 1959.

Ronald James Schauer

Ronald James Schauer, 71, of Regent, ND went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Schauer farmstead. Celebration of Ron’s life was January 23, 2018 at the gymnasium at the Enchanted Castle in Regent.Burial was at the Regent Cemetery. Ron was born May 9, 1946, the 13th child of Jacob, Jr. and Louisa (Dill-Zimmerman) Schauer.

Ron, along with his twin brother Russell, attended all 12 years of schooling at Regent Public School, graduating with the class of 1964. Upon graduating, they joined the National Guard at Mott, ND, and went to Fort Dix, NJ. After returning from the service, they went into farming and construction work.

Ray Milliken

September 20, 1928 – January 26, 2018

Ray Milliken, 89, of Butte, MT passed away January 26, 2018. He was the third child of LeVera and Robert Milliken Sr. and grew up on what is now the Tim Bollinger place near Timber Lake. He is survived by siblings: John Milliken of Gillette, WY, Mollie Reiss of Mobridge, David Milliken of Rochester, MN, and Velma Honeyman of Hope, AR.
