Irvin LaMarr Scherr

Irvin LaMarr “Buster” Scherr, 67, passed away January 9, 2020 of natural causes at his home in Lennox. A grave side service will be held Friday, January 24, 2020 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette, WY with Rev. Gordon Harper officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory of Yankton.

“Buster” was born January 3, 1953 in Mobridge to Jacob and Nettie (Meyers) Scherr of Timber Lake. He was raised on a farm outside of Timber Lake and attended school there. Irwin worked at the livestock sale barns in Timber Lake and Mobridge. He also worked in various places in South Dakota and Gillette, WY.

James “Jim” Hulm

James “Jim” Hulm

James “Jim” Hulm, 86, of Jasper, MN and formerly of Timber Lake died peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, MN.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 20 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. CT and a prayer service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. Interment will be in the Timber Lake Cemetery.

Hartquist Funeral Home in Pipestone and Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge are in charge of arrangements.

James Herman Hulm was born July 1, 1933 to Anton and Cecilia (Wolf) Hulm on the family farm southwest of Timber Lake. He grew up there and attended country school. In 1951, he graduated from Timber Lake High School.

Albert Lee Lopez

Funeral services for Lee Lopez, 80, longtime Meadow area rancher, were held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the New Hope Worship Center in Lemmon with Pastor Jess Harkins officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Timber Lake Cemetery

Albert Lee Lopez was born January 18, 1939, in Eagle Butte, to Luvisa (Pelter) Lopez and Albert Lopez. Lee was the youngest of four children, after Carl, Annabelle, and Effie.

Lee’s mom, “Grandma Vice” was the girls’ dorm counselor and cook at the Eagle Butte boarding school, and his dad worked for the Diamond A Cattle Company. With the help of his Aunt Alice, Lee graduated from the eighth grade in Branson, CO.

Funeral services for Bernadette Littleton, 53, of Lemmon and formerly of Eagle Butte will be at 10 a.m. MT on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte.

Valerie Curley and Shirley Dog Eagle will officiate and burial will be in the UCC Cemetery in Bridger under direction of Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Mass of Christian Burial for Clinton R. Putnam, 89, of Fort Yates, ND will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fort Yates, ND. Inurnment will be at a later date under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Visitation will be Friday, January 17, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Funeral services for Lee Lopez, 80, longtime Meadow area rancher, will be held at 11:00 a.m. MT on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the New Hope Worship Center in Lemmon. Pastor Jess Harkins will officiate with burial to be at a later date in the Timber Lake Cemetery. Military honors will be afforded by the Brattvet-Green American Legion Post #66.

A family service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17 at the New Hope Worship Center.

Ruby Lee Locken

Ruby Lee Locken

The funeral service for Ruby Lee Locken, 92, of Isabel was held December 31, 2019 at the Isabel Community Center. Vicar Teri Gayer of the United Congregational Church officiated and burial was in Hillview Cemetery at Isabel.

Special music was provided by Pat Kjellsen, organist, and Keith Gall, soloist.

Ruby Lee (Pladsen) Locken was born on October 11, 1927, the third daughter of Ernest and Byrda (Smith) Pladsen in Isabel. She grew up on the family farm and attended the Van Dusen Country School to the 8th grade and then attended high school in Isabel. She earned her GED and graduated with the Class of 1947. She attended college at Spearfish and while there she was a part of the Passion Play one year.
