Gary Lane Skjoldal

The funeral service for Gary Skjoldal, 61, of Lemmon was held November 23, 2019 at the New Hope Worship Center in Lemmon. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon. Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon was in charge of arrangements.

Honorary casketbearers included Kenny Erlenbusch, Mike Riedy, Mark Peterson, the Seim Family, Doug Butler, and all of Gary’s friends and relatives. Active casketbearers were Jim Traversie, Doug Ham, Russ Nelson, Tom Powers, Loren Lensegrav, and Nathan and Paul Skjoldal.

Gary Lane Skjoldal was born on September 19, 1958 in Elgin, ND to Haakon “Henry” and Vera Nelson Skjoldal. He attended grade school at North Lemmon School and went to Lemmon High School. He had very special memories of friends made in and out of school that he carried with him for a lifetime. He loved making music with his friends, nature and ranch life.

John A. Tomahawk, 67, of Rapid City passed away on November 8, 2019 in Rapid City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. MT on Monday, November 25, 2019 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte. Shirley Dog Eagle and Valerie Curley will officiate. Burial will be in Ascension Cemetery in Blackfoot under the direction of Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Angeline (Bear Eagle) Taylor

Angeline (Bear Eagle) Taylor died peacefully at the Medicine Wheel Village in Eagle Butte, November 7 2019 at the age of 83.

Services were held on November 13, 2019 at the Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte. A Memorial and Ashes Scattering will be held at the family ranch in the spring of 2020, date pending.

James “Jim” Gerard Holzer

Mass of Christian Burial for James Gerard “Jim” Holzer, 64, of Mitchell was held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake with Fr. Brian Lane officiating. Burial was in the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge.

He passed away at his home in Mitchell on November 12, 2019.

Dolores “Lulu” Elaine Rousseau Parsons

Dolores “LuLu” Elaine Rousseau Parsons, 84, of Sioux Falls passed away on November 6, 2019.

LuLu was born on February 24, 1935 at Cheyenne Agency to Ted and Ruth Rousseau. She grew up in the Ridgeview-Eagle Butte area with six sisters and two brothers.

During high school, she was Snow Queen in Mobridge. She also worked at Leonard’s Studio in Mobridge. After graduating from high school she met Cam Cheskey and had four children with him— Robert “Bob”, James “Jim”, William “Bill”, and Sandra “Sandy”.

Later, she moved herself and her four kids to Vermillion to pursue an education in nursing at the University of South Dakota. This resulted in a lifelong career and suited her perfectly because she always wanted to take care of others, often putting everyone else before herself.

Francis E. (Fran) Vogel

Mass of Christian Burial for Francis "Fran" E. Vogel, 64, of Timber Lake was held Monday, November 11, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen. A wake service was held Sunday, November 10 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge was in charge of arrangements.

Francis “Fran” Eugene Vogel was born September 11, 1955 to Frederick and Neva (Gillespie) Vogel in Aberdeen. He made his heavenly journey on November 6, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home in Timber Lake.

Fran’s education started in the Catholic schools in Aberdeen, and he graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1972. He attended Jamestown (ND) College and Northern State University in Aberdeen, where he participated in cross country and track.

Fran married Kathy Wattier in Webster, and through this marriage a son, Chad, was born. Fran loved being a dad.

Larry Martian

Larry Martian

Larry J. Martian, 75, passed away Friday, November 1, 2019 at his home in Whitewood.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis. Inurnment will follow at Whitewood Cemetery.

Larry was born on December 18, 1943 to Jacob and Angeline Martian in Glencross. He attended grade school in Corson County and graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1963.

He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Singer, on June 25, 1966 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glencross.

Larry worked in construction for many years before going to work for Wheeler Lumber. After 10 years there, he started his own company, Martian Logging, and was self-employed for over 30 years.

Anthony “Tony” Rivers, Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony “Tony” Rivers Jr., 100, of Piedmont was held November 4, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. Burial was at the LaPlant Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Tony passed away October 28 at the Ft. Meade Veterans Hospital.

Anthony Alvin Rivers Jr. was better known as Tony Jr. or Kid Rivers. His Indian name was Hoksila Isnala (Lone Boy). He was a direct descendant of Chief War Eagle.

He was born April 18, 1919 to Tony and Laura (Benoist) Rivers in a log cabin south of the mouth of the Moreau River on the Cheyenne River Sioux Indian Reservation.

Carol Corrine Fron

A grave side service for Carol Corrine Fron, 84, of Timber Lake was held at Hillview Cemetery in Isabel on Saturday, November 2. Carol passed away October 30, 2019 at West River Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

Carol Corrine (Solberg) Fron was born June 26, 1935, the second of six children born to Esther (King) and Bert Solberg. She spent the first eight years near Glad Valley. After the death of her father, the family moved to Isabel where she graduated from high school. During her junior and senior years in school she worked at the B and B Café where she met Stanley Fron. They were married June 9, 1955. Their only child, Audrey was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1956.
