Funeral arrangements for Melvin Hausman, 89, of Mobridge are pending with Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge. Melvin passed away on March 28, 2020 at the Walworth County Care Center in Selby.

Veronica “Bonnie” Gage Dvorak

Veronica Mae Gage Dvorak “Bonnie,” 89, formerly of Timber Lake, passed away at her home in Huntington Beach, CA on September 19, 2019 from Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Timber Lake on April 7, 1930 to Clarence Parker Gage and Ida Mary (Austin) Gage. Her mother, a devout Catholic, named her for Saint Veronica, although family and friends called her “Bonnie.”

A member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Bonnie entered Haskell Indian High School (now Haskell Indian Nations University) in Lawrence, KS and graduated in 1948.

Duane Earl Locken

Duane Earl Locken

Duane Earl Locken, 74, of rural New Lisbon, WI passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 with his family at his side.

Duane was born in St. Paul, MN on November 16, 1945. His parents were Earl D. Locken and Ruby Lee (Pladsen) Locken of Isabel. He was later joined by siblings Gerald, Robert, Barbara (Campbell), Dale and Joan (Wanke).

Duane attended mechanics schooling before joining the US Air Force. He ended his Air Force service in Wisconsin. There he met and married Ruth Poulda. After their marriage they moved to Chicago where Duane attended Devry Tech, attaining a degree in electronic engineering. To their union two sons were born, Lance and Troy.

Leo A. Bakeberg, Sr.

Leo A. Bakeberg, Sr.

Leo Anthony Bakeberg, Sr., 90, of Spearfish and formerly of Dupree, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Hospice House in Rapid City, surrounded by his loving family.

Leo was born in Dupree on May 13, 1929, one of eight children of August J. and Josephine (Doud) Bakeberg. Although he lost his right arm below the elbow at the age of 13, Leo gained the reputation of being able to do more with one hand than most people do with two. He participated in high school basketball and plays, and was selected to attend Boys State. Leo graduated from Dupree High School in 1948.

Leo married his high school sweetheart, Patience “Pat” Edwards in 1950 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupree and together they raised ten children.

Nicole Mulligan

Nicole Mulligan

Nicole Mulligan, 50, of Mobridge passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at her home in Mobridge. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Nicole was born on November 10, 1969 to Bill and Barbara (Fiddler) Mulligan.

After graduating from Mobridge High School in 1988, she went to cosmetology school in Bismarck, ND.

She returned to Mobridge and worked for Cardinal Plastics until it closed. She then went to work for One World.

Nicole left this job to help her father, who had cancer. She drove him to horse sales and helped care for the horses. Soon after her father passed away she went to work for East River and the Holiday. She finally found her dream job with Tami Schanzenbach at Pets ‘n Stuff.

Orville Thomas Gibson

Orville Thomas Gibson

Orville Thomas Gibson, 80, Ruthville, ND, died in his home on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

Orville was born on September 14, 1939, in Westfield, ND, to Earl and Cora (Runsker) Gibson. He was raised on the family farm near Timber Lake and, in 1958, graduated from Timber Lake High School.

Orville entered active duty with the United States Air Force in 1965 and honorably served his country until his retirement in 1991. He served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Texas, New Hampshire, Indiana, Kansas, and, most recently, Minot, ND.

He worked as a mechanic with the sheet metal shop and attained the rank of Master-Sergeant. In 1974, he received the Maintenance Man Award.

Funeral services for Connie Red Bear, 60, of Bullhead will be at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at St. Aloysious Catholic Church in Bullhead. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge. A wake service will begin at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the church in Bullhead. Connie passed away on March 10, 2020.
