Dean V. LeCompte November 10, 1923 – August 19, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial for Dean LeCompte, 90, of rural Mobridge was Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mobridge with Father Bill Hamak officiating. Burial was in the Mobridge City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Dean passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at his home. Dean Virgil LeCompte was born on November 10, 1924 to Obede and Cecilia (Skinner) LeCompte on their ranch south of Mobridge on the Standing Rock Reservation. He was given the Lakota name Canta Maza (Iron Heart) at birth by his Grandpa and Grandma Skinner.

Glen “Cuddy” Cudmore

Funeral services for Glen “Cuddy” Cudmore, 63, of Timber Lake will be at 10 a.m. MT, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Timber Lake Community Center. Burial will be in the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 21 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the New Hope Church in Timber Lake. Cuddy passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015.

Arthur “Art” Gibson of Midland City, AL died August 1, 2015. He was the youngest son of Cora and Earl Gibson of Timber Lake. Art graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1965.

Kathy Kuzior

Funeral services for Kathy Kuzior, 66, of McLaughlin were held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the LDS Church in McLaughlin. Burial was at the LDS Cemetery in Wakpala under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Kathy passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the IHS Hospital in Ft. Yates, ND. Kathleen Fern was born in Medina, OH on June 7, 1949 to Patricia Mentzer and Hubert Van Deusen.

Darrell “Dean” Hunter

Darrell “Dean” Hunter, 84, of Timber Lake and formerly of Ardmore passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Mobridge Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. MT on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. He was born February 9, 1931, in Edgemont to John W. Hunter and Marjorie (Rineer) Hunter.

During his youth he lived on his father’s ranch near Ardmore, attending the Ardmore School until 7th grade. He finished his education in Custer while living with family friends and traveling home to Ardmore on weekends by passenger train. While in school he participated in band, football, basketball and track, but especially enjoyed playing football.

Kathryn “Gypsy” Ward Walters

Kathryn “Gypsy” Ward Walters was born on February 10, 1934 at Ft. Yates, ND to William “Buck” and Florence  (LeCompte) Ward and passed away on July 7, 2015 in Paradise, CA. Her nickname was “Gypsy” and she lived up to it. Kathryn grew up in Timber Lake and joined the Navy right out of high school in 1952. While in the Navy, she was stationed in Hawaii, where she met and married Nick Walters. They were together for 59 years before Nick passe  in 2014. During their time together, they loved to travel and explore different cultures on every continent, including Antarctica. Kathryn was full of color and always liked adventure.

Martin “Honey” Webb

The funeral service for Martin “Honey” Webb, 84, of Eagle Butte was held August 7, 2015 at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. Burial was in the Eagle Butte Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. “Honey” passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at St. Mary’s Avera Hospital in Pierre. He was born to George and Ella (Joens) Webb on April 5, 1931 on the old Webb homestead northwest of Eagle Butte. He helped his parents on their homestead and attended Butte View country school through the 8th grade. At the early age of 9 Honey began working for local ranchers herding sheep for 50 cents a day.

Funeral services for Martin "Honey" Webb, 84, of Eagle Butte will be Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. MT at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be in the Eagle Butte Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the services on Friday. Mr. Webb passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at St. Mary's Avera Hospital of Pierre.

Glenna F. Reich

Glenna F. ReichNorthern State Teachers College, now NSU, with a two year teaching certificate and began her teaching career. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Askarl Reich in Aberdeen. They lived in the Isabel area until his death in 1993. In 2008, she moved to Oakes, ND, where she resided until her death. Glenna and Askarl raised a family of three sons of whom she was always very proud. Glenna taught country school and in the Isabel School for 12 years,retiring in 1976. Then she began a second career of day care. She never really stopped teaching as she touched the lives of many children, instilling in them a love of reading and learning. She had a remarkable memory for names, birthdays, and anniversaries.
