Sheryl Fuhrer Keller

Funeral services for Sheryl Keller, 65, of Mobridge were held October 7, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Sheryl passed away October 2, 2019 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Sheryl LaRee Fuhrer was born on November 4, 1953 in Isabel to Gilbert and Elaine (Miller) Fuhrer. The family moved to Mobridge in 1961 where she graduated from Mobridge High School in 1971.

On August 21, 1971, she married Kenneth “Fox” Keller at Trinity Lutheran Church. To this union one daughter, Stacey, was born in March 1972. Also in 1972 Sheryl started working at First National Bank in Mobridge. It turned into a 38-year banking career. She retired from Wells Fargo on February 1, 2010.

James Menard

Funeral services for James Menard, 81, of Eagle Butte were held Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Cheyenne River Bingo Hall in Eagle Butte. Cremation will take place with burial at later date. James Menard passed away peacefully on September 30, 2019 in Rapid City surrounded by loved ones. Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.

Gloria Jean Riemath Cousins

Gloria Jean Riemath Cousins passed away on September 14, 2019 at the age of 78.

Gloria was born February 16, 1941 to Ike and Shirley Riemath, the oldest of five siblings. She grew up in Firesteel, where she attended elementary school. She was a cheerleader for the Firesteel Bulldogs.

Gloria spent summers employed by local families. She watched after children, helped with housework and did other jobs as needed. She was employed by Mary Biegler, Swede Marshall and several others.

On April 9, 1958 she married Robert Cousins and moved with her new husband to Fort Sill, OK. They had three children, Clayton, Juanita and Andrew.

Her father passed away in 1962 and her mother in 1965. At this time Gloria took on the responsibility of raising her three siblings, Linda, Warren and Richard. Her other brother, Art, was in the Air Force and was stationed in the Far East.

Funeral services for Ruth H. Truax, 93, of Mobridge were October 4, 2019 at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge with interment in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Ruth passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Walworth County Care Center in Selby.

Ruth Rivinius was born September 27, 1926 at the Rivinius family farm at Ridgeview to William (W.J.) and Sophia Sayler Rivinius. She attended grade school in Ridgeview and high school at Plainview Academy in Redfield, where she made many lifelong friends and graduated as class valedictorian in 1944.

After helping on the family farm for two years she took the train to Oregon to join her older sisters. She met Melvin Truax, a Minnesotan recently discharged from the U.S. Navy, in Oregon and they were married at her parents’ home in Ridgeview on May 11, 1947. Their honeymoon began at the Brown Palace Hotel in Mobridge.

Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Schumacher, 72, of Timber Lake was September 27, 2019, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake. Burial was at the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Robert passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Saturday, September 21, 2019 near Timber Lake.

Robert “Bob” John Schumacher was born on April 30, 1947 at Mobridge to John and Ann (Schwingler) Schumacher of Timber Lake. He attended Holy Cross Catholic School where he graduated from the eighth grade. The next three years he worked with sheep and cattle on the Benny Dollarhide Ranch which is now the Timber Lake Elk Ranch. He also worked for Timber Lake Motors and Kesling Lumber in Timber Lake.

Douglas Deans

Douglas W. Deans, 68, of Billings, MT passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at a Billings hospital.

Visitation will start at noon followed by a Service of Remembrance at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of Evanson-Jensen Funeral Homes in Lemmon. Rev. Florence Hoff will officiate and a time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at the funeral home.

Douglas Wayne Deans was born July 27, 1951 at Ekalaka, MT to Harold and Marie (Hill) Deans, joining three older brothers. The family moved later that year to a ranch near Gopher, north of Isabel.

At the age of 5 he welcomed sister Jeannie to the family. Doug attended Tip-Top School at Gopher through 6th grade, and after the family moved to the ranch at Keldron he attended two years at Thunder Hawk. He graduated in 1969 from Lemmon High School.

Robert Schumacher

Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Schumacher, 72, of Timber Lake will be at 10 a.m. MT on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake. Burial will be at the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Robert passed away of a sudden heart attack on Saturday, September 21, 2019 near Timber Lake.

Jim Peterson

Jimmy Dean Peterson, 84, of Mobridge (also affectionately known as “Pete, Jim and LaLa”) died peacefully on September 14, 2019 from complications due to Alzheimer’s/ dementia. Jim was born in Miller on February 7, 1935, the son of June (Vollenweider) and Nels Peterson.

He met Frances Lavon Tatro prior to leaving for his military service overseas,, and they married upon his return on April 22, 1960.

Jimmy was proud to have served in the Army (with Elvis Presley in his company).

Jim leaves behind his wife, Frances of Mobridge; three daughters, Jennifer Scholl (Jack Scholl) of Spearfish, Jessica Peterson (Shawn Stokes) of Denver, CO, and Julie Asmussen (Steve Asmussen) of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Jennessa Marie Dempsey, Jacob William Scholl, Keith James Asmussen, Darren Scott Asmussen, and Erik Mark Asmussen; and brothers Marvis Debates and Rod Goodwin.
