TLHS boys cruise past Takini

Timber Lake won their third straight varsity game at Takini Jan. 13. Brayden Pay Pay scored a season high 22 points for the Panthers, with Jackson Harrison and Tucker Kraft adding 14 points each. Isaac Kraft scored 12 points, Trey Bollinger 4, and Anthony Alley, Brady Hall and Nathan Swift 2 points each.

Panthers win 3 of 4 games in Saturday slate with Ranchers

Timber Lake hosted Harding County on Saturday, Jan. 14 for a four-game lineup of varsity and JV games between the boys and girls teams. The Panthers won the first three games in the series and it looked good for the Panther sweep early in the boys varsity game, but the Ranchers surged to defeat TLHS. Boys Varsity Harding County 46, Timber Lake 43 Timber Lake looked sharp early but a drought in the middle two quarters allowed the Ranchers to get back into the game and steal the road victory. The Panthers jumped out to an 11-7 lead after the first quarter, but Harding County outscored the home team 26- 14 in the second and third periods to lead 33-25 heading into the fourth.

TLHS boys win two straight

The Timber Lake boys basketball team has won two straight varsity contests, as the Panthers beat Edmunds Central 58-43 on Jan. 5 and Philip 57-51 on Saturday.
 
Timber Lake 57, Philip 51
A big first quarter helped the Panther boys survive a fourth quarter comeback attempt by the Scotties at the Kadoka Classic Jan. 7.
 
TLHS used a 12-3 opening run to lead 29-9 at halftime. Anthony Alley and Jackson Harrison hit 3-pointers in the opening barrage.
 
Philip outscored TL 43-28 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough. Timber Lake hit 8 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
 
Brayden Pay Pay had 12 points off the bench to lead TLHS in the scoring column. Alley and Tucker Kraft scored 11 points each.
 
Harrison finished with 8 points, Isaac Kraft 7, Beau DuBray 4, Trey Bollinger 2 and Taylor Goldade 2.

Lady Panthers move to 7-1

The Timber Lake girls basketball team posted an impressive win at home on Jan. 5 in a 69-8 defeat of Edmunds Central.
 
Outside of an 8-point second quarter from Edmunds Central, TLHS held the opponent scoreless for the first period and the entire second half.
 
Loryn Schoelerman had 12 points for the Panthers. Sydnee Mettler added 10 points, Josie White 8, Chyanne Ducheneaux 8, Lorenda Long 7, LaShae Nash 6, Molly Kraft 6, Sydney Maher 5, Olivia Linderman 2, Lexy White 2, Macy Bollinger 1.
 
In the junior varsity game, the Panthers won 40-4. Scoring for TL: Lorenda Long 7, Lexy White 6, Macy Bollinger 6, Stormi Hulm 6, Tia LeBeau 5, Molly Kraft 4, Olivia Linderman 2, Shelby Thompson 2.

Lady Panthers off to strong start

The Timber Lake varsity girls basketball team is off to a 4-1 start to the season, with wins coming over Lemmon, Herreid/Selby Area, Mobridge and Strasburg/Zeeland (ND). Their only loss was at the hands of #1-ranked Sully Buttes. It was at the Mobridge holiday classic on Saturday that TLHS topped Strasburg/Zeeland 53-17. The Panthers forced S/Z into 33 turnovers and held them to 14 points heading into the fourth quarter.

Haak leads S/Z over TLHS boys

The Timber Lake boys varsity team competed at the Mobridge holiday classic Saturday against Strasburg/ Zeeland (ND) in a 46-41 loss for the 0-2 Panthers. In S/Z’s first game of the season, Stetson Haak scored 15 points to lead the way. Beau DuBray hit a pair of 3-pointers and led TLHS with 13 points. Isaac Kraft added 7, Anthony Alley 8, Jackson Harrison 4, Tucker Kraft 7, and Taylor Goldade 2.

Junior high KC Tournament

The Dupree junior high girls Knights of Columbus basketball tournament was held last Saturday at Dupree. Faith took 1st, Cheyenne- Eagle Butte 2nd, Dupree 3rd and Timber Lake 4th place.

TLHS girls open with win over Lemmon

The Timber Lake Panthers opened their 2016-17 girls basketball season in impressive fashion, as they defeated the Lemmon Cowgirls at TL 64-35. LaShae Nash scored 13 points off the bench and Josie White and Loryn Schoelerman added 12 points each for the Panthers. TLHS led 19-10 after the first quarter, as Schoelerman hit a 3-pointer and scored 8 points in the first 8 minutes.

Four Panthers earn All-LMC honors

Four Timber Lake Panthers have earned all-conference honors for the 2016 9-man football season. The Little Moreau Conference allconference team was announced Dec. 1, with five Bison Cardinals players and six Harding County Ranchers comprising the bulk of the 1st team. For Timber Lake, which went 3-5 on the season, two players were named to the all-LMC 1st team: Senior tight end/linebacker Jakways Mendoza and senior running back/ linebacker Aaron Holzer.
