Second place at Spearfish

Four TLHS students headed to Colorado

Loryn Schoelerman (freshman), Sydnee Mettler (sophomore), Charles Gabe (senior), and Nicholas Bad Warrior (junior), all students from Timber Lake High School, were selected to participate in the 30th Annual Amerind All West Native American Basketball Classic in Lakewood, CO March 27-29. The basketball classic brings together tribes and tribally designated housing entities of the United Native American Housing Association along with business sponsors, volunteers, and employees of the Office of Native American Programs, Dept. of Housing and Urban Development.

Hotzler, Schlosser, Nielson compete in State Gymnastics Meet at Rapid City

Elise Hotzler, 11-year-old daughter of Angie and Matt Hotzler of Clear Lake, competed in the State Gymnastics Meet held at Stevens High School in Rapid City March 21-22. She placed second in vault with a score of 9.0; 5th in floor exercise with 9.05; 6th in balance beam with 9.05; 9th in uneven bars with 7.75 and 6th in all-around with a score of 34.85. There are 10 levels of competition and Elise competed in Level 6 for 8-11- year-olds. She is a member of Dakota Gold Gymnastics in Watertown.

Nine Inch Nails are West River Pool League champions

With one week left in the pool season, the Nails have a 10.5 point lead over the second place team. I will call that a win. Jim Mraz took an 11 point lead for Top Gun last week. That isn't quite a lock yet. It's still up for grabs.

Panthers fall to Midgets in Boys 15B Tournamenta

Timber Lake's quest for the District 15B boys basketball championship and a berth in the Region 8 tournament came to an end in the semifinal round on Thursday, March 5 when the Panthers were knocked  off 62-51 by eventual championMcLaughlin. The Midgets went on  to upset McIntosh on Friday for thedistrict crown. McLaughlin jumped out to an  11-6 first quarter edge before goingon a 19-8 run in the second stanza  to take control 30-14 just before thehalftime break. The Midgets’ run  included four 3-pointers, two comingcourtesy of leading scorer Payton  Tiokosin, who scored nine points inthe quarter.

Panther boys advance to semifinals in District 15B Tournament

The Timber Lake Panthers and Tiospaye Topa Thunderhawks scored first round victories in the District 15B Boys Basketball Tournament on Monday and advance to semifinal play on Thursday, March 5, at Scherr- Howe Arena in Mobridge. The Panthers, seeded number three in the tournament with an 8-12 record, cruised past sixth-seed Wakpala 73-28 while fourth seed The Tiospaye Topa Thunderhawks downed the fifth-seeded Dupree Tigers 59-50.

Timber Lake girls slip past McIntosh in semifinals

Timber Lake utilized full-court pressure and was able to shut down McIntosh standout senior Tia Baumberger to claim a 37-30 win over the Lady Tigers on February 26 in the semifinal round of the District 15B girls basketball tournament. The victory marked the third time Timber Lake defeated McIntosh this season and propelled the Lady Panthers into the district championship game while ending the Lady Tigers’ season with an 11-10 overall record.To view more please log in or subscribe to the digital edition
