Eureka-Bowdle runs over Timber Lake boys 70-43

Eureka-Bowdle scored early and often enroute to a 70-43 win over Timber Lake on Monday, handing the Panthers one of their most lopsided defeats of the season. The Patriots ran out to an 11-3 first quarter advantage and controlled 29-16 at the halftime break. Timber Lake stayed within striking distance in the third stanza and trailed 52-37, but Eureka-Bowdle went on an 18-6 run in the final quarter to run away with the win.

Panthers win one of three in LMC Tourney to settle for fourth place

Tanner Kraft’s 10 points weren’t enough to get a win for the Panthers in the second round game against McIntosh at the LMC Tourney.

The Faith Longhorns won the Little Moreau Conference boys basketball tournament Saturday on their home floor, defeating the McIntosh Tigers 56-45 in the final game of the tourney. In the third place game, the Timber Lake Panthers fell to Harding County 67-48. The Panthers advanced to the semifinals with a first round win over Tiospaye Topa, but fell to McIntosh in the semifinal round.

Fourth graders finish 2nd

The Timber Lake fourth grade boys basketball team took second place in their division in the Sully Buttes basketball tournament held Saturday, February 8. They won games against Sully Buttes and Pierre and lost two games to Aberdeen Roncalli. Playing for the Panthers were FRONT (L-R): Hank Kraft, Jaiden Ducheneaux, Brandt Ducheneaux, Chase Marshall, Dixon Booth; BACK: Jayce Lawrence, Chazz Gabe, Ethan Farlee, and Sawyer Holzer. They are coached by Deb Ducheneaux.

Dahlgren’s 8 three-pointers break record

Courtney Dahlgren of the TLHS girls basketball team broke a school record when she made eight 3-point shots in the game against Dupree last Friday.

Senior guard Courtney Dahlgren poured in more than half of Timber Lake's points - 31 to be exact - to lead the Lady Panthers past Dupree 60-22 in Little Moreau Conference basketball action on Friday. Dahlgren's performance was her personal career-high in scoring and included eight 3-pointers which set a new school single game record for buckets from behind the arch. She finished 8-for-12 on 3-point attempts.

Timber Lake boys fall to McIntosh, 46-35

Kyle Mollman put 22 points on the scoreboard and led a second half surge that lifted the McIntosh Tigers past Timber Lake 46-35 in Little Moreau Conference basketball action on January 31. Timber Lake grabbed an 11-10 first quarter edge but found itself trailing 20-19 at the halftime break. McIntosh went on an 11-5 scoring run in the third stanza to extend its lead and sealed the victory with a strong showing in the final eight minutes.

Timber Lake girls down McIntosh in quarter finals of LMC Tournament

Both the Timber Lake Lady Panthers and McIntosh Lady Tigers claimed convincing victories in the first round of the Little Moreau Conference Girls Basketball Tournament last Thursday, but when the two teams met in quarterfinal action the next night, hot-shooting guard Courtney Dahlgren and her Timber Lake teammates proved to be too much for their friendly rivals to the north. Timber Lake had no trouble handling Tiospaye Topa in semifinal play on Thursday, running away with a 74-15 victory. Meanwhile, McIntosh trailed Dupree by one point at halftime of their first round matchup, but rallied in the second half to pull away for a 45-28 win, setting the stage for the two winners to meet on Friday.

Cowgirls upend Panthers to win LMC Tournament

Loryn Schoelerman (10) scored 14 to lead the Panthers to a win over Tiospaye Topa in the first round of the LMC Tournament.

Four players scored in double figures for the Lemmon Cowgirls, who used a balanced scoring attack and strong second half to claim a 66-47 win over Timber Lake in the championship game of the 2014 Little Moreau Conference Girls Basketball Tournament on Saturday. In other finals action, McIntosh held off Faith to claim third place honors while Harding County upended Dupree in the fifth place game and Bison cruised past Tiospaye Topa to finish in seventh place.

Panther boys dump Takini, fall to Harding County

The Timber Lake boys basketball team split a pair of Little Moreau Conference games last week, turning in a strong showing at the free throw line to sneak past Takini on Thursday, January 16, before losing to Harding County on Saturday, January 18., in a game that saw the Panthers turn the ball over 26 times. The Panthers will close out their January schedule on January 30 by traveling to McIntosh and kick off February with the Little Moreau Conference Tournament, slated for February 6-8.

Lady Panthers have busy week, move mid-season mark to 7-5

The Timber Lake Lady Panthers came away from a four-game stretch with two wins and two losses, moving their overall record to 7-5 at the mid-season point and heading into the Little Moreau Conference Tournament this week. The Lady Panthers collected big wins over Takini and Wakpala, but found themselves on the losing end in matchups with Sully Buttes and LMC rival Harding County. Timber Lake will face winless Tiospaye Topa in the first round of the LMC Tournament at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 23 in McIntosh.
