Lady Panthers post wins over Faith, Newell

The Timber Lake Lady Panthers improved to 12-13 last week with three consecutive victories, including two over Little Moreau Conference opponents. Head Coach Cassius Kocer said his team has been putting in a lot of work during the second half of the 2015 season and that effort is beginning to pay off.

Game ends at half-time when Panther gridders outscore McLaughlin 66-8

Timber Lake scored 44 points in the first quarter and added 22 in the second to steamroll McLaughlin 66-8 in non-conference football action on October 16. The game was halted at halftime when officials invoked the "mercy rule," which states that if a team leads by 50 points or more at halftime, the game will be ended. The win lifted the Panthers to 4-3 on the season while McLaughlin, riding the first two-game win streak in recent memory, fell to 2-6.

Lady Panthers finish fifth at Gettysburg Tournament

Timber Lake went 2-2 at the Gettysburg Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 10, to capture fifth place honors and move their season record to 10-13 overall. The Lady Panthers do not have any games scheduled this week. Coach Cassius Kocer said the extra rest will help the team overcome some nagging injuries and illness.

TL girls lose to Lemmon and Mobridge

The Timber Lake Lady Panthers dropped a pair of regular season contests last week, losing to Lemmon on Oct. 6 and falling to Mobridge- Pollock on Oct. 8. Lemmon downed Timber Lake with a three game sweep by scores of 12-15, 27-29 and 14-25.

Timber Lake 5th/6th grade girls record 3 wins, 2 losses

The Timber Lake 5th/6th grade girls basketball team hosted McLaughlin on Sept. 24. The 5th grade girls won 24-6. Scoring for the Lady Panthers were Natalie Gross 2, Adriana Johnson 4, Carlie Lawrence 8, Shay Kraft 8, and Code Enright 2. The 6th grade girls won 27-17. Scoring were Tessa Goldade 4, Michaela Hoyt 3, Hannah Bad Warrior 6, Halle Kraft 4, and Payton Booth 10.

Newell, Bison capture team titles at LMC Cross Country Meet

Newell captured the girls’ team title and Bison won the boys’ at the Little Moreau Conference Meet on Friday, October 2. On the girls side, Dupree finished runner-up in the team standings, followed by Lemmon, Timber Lake and Bison. In boys action, McIntosh earned second place with Newell, Timber Lake and Lemmon following.

Cross country team captures second, third at Lemmon

The Timber Lake Panther cross country teams placed second in the varsity girls and third in the varsity boys standings at Lemmon on Monday, Aug. 28. Bobbi Smith placed fifth in the varsity girls standings with a time of 21:42. Lexy White placed 9th with 22:51 and Chyanne Ducheneaux took 16th with 26:14.

Faith Longhorns edge Panthers 28-26 with extra points

In a contest where both teams scored 24 points on four touchdowns each, the 9-man football game between Faith and Timber Lake came down to the extra point tries. The Faith Longhorns converted two of four extra point tries (for four total points) on their home field Friday night, while the visiting Timber Lake Panthers converted one of four tries for two extra points. That extra 2-point conversion provided Faith with the winning difference, as they took the game 28-26 to move to 3 wins and 2 losses on the season. The Panthers move to 1-3.
