Panthers cap historic season with 8th at state

By Robert Slocum

The Timber Lake Lady Panthers showed why they were the Region 8B champions at the state tournament March 9-11 at Huron, but the tough competition of the tournament coupled with foul trouble and some shooting slumps meant TLHS went 0-3 at the tourney. The Panthers came home with 8th place in the state to cap off one of the better seasons in school history.

Loryn Schoelerman was named to the all-tournament team, as the junior forward scored 14 points per game (42 total) during the tournament, sank five 3-pointers and grabbed 20 rebounds (6.67 RPG).

Sully Buttes, led by Remi Wientjes and Chloe Lamb, won their second state championship in a row on Saturday night when they defeated Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 63-48.
