James (Jim) Bossert of Topeka, KS passed away December 13, 2020 at the age of 84.

Jim was born April 2, 1936, the son of Gust and Pauline Bossert, in Fort Yates, ND. He graduated from McLaughlin High School and went to work for Moreau-Grand Electric Co-op.

He married Joyce Johnson, a school teacher in McLaughlin. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They had one son Kurt, who lives in Topeka, KS.

Jim started raising cattle in the 1960s, and in the early '70s he left his job with Moreau-Grand and purchased the local bowling alley, which he and Joyce operated for four years. They then sold it and he ranched full time. He also worked for 25 years at the McLaughlin sale barn running the scales, never missing a single sale in all 25 years. For many of those years he also ran the scale at Mobridge Livestock.

In 2011 Jim and Joyce moved to Mobridge, and in 2015 they moved to Topeka to be close to their son and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Joyce; son Kurt and wife Andi; grandson Paul Bossert and wife Hannah and their three children; granddaughter Jamie Stafford and husband Jason and their two children; granddaughter Tracy Broxterman and husband Joel and their five children; stepgrandchild Cassandra Campbell and her husband Darren and their five children.

The funeral for Jim was December 17 in Topeka. An additional service was held December 19 at the Kesling Funeral home in Mobridge, followed by burial.
