Panther boys place third at Mobridge Rotary Relays

Hansen sets new meet record in 300 hurdles Individual meet championships from sophomore Holden Gill and senior Gracen Hansen, along with a winning relay squad, lifted the Timber Lake Panther boys to a third place finish at the Mobridge Rotary Relays held Saturday, April 13, at Tiger Stadium in Mobridge. Mobridge-Pollock won the boys team title with 124 points, followed by Ipswich with 113 and Timber Lake at 97.

The White River Rodeo has been named the South Dakota Rodeo Association’s 2023 Rodeo of the Year while the Buffalo Labor Day Rodeo was recognized as Reserve Rodeo of the Year. ***** Huron has been selected to host the 2025 and 2026 South Dakota Rodeo Association (SDRA) Finals. ***** McLaughlin bull rider Chance Schott banked some money at events in Nevada and Utah last week, including a second place finish at the Rocky Mt. Rodeo Challenge.

Pederson leads Dupree boys at Dewey Donat Track Classic

Jessup Pederson was the top pointgetter for the Dupree Tiger boys track team last Thursday, March 28, earning two top five finishes at the Dewey Donat Track Classic held at Northern State University in Aberdeen Pederson, a senior, captured second place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.18 and was third in the 200 meter run with a time of 24.73. Other top 10 finishes for the Tiger boys included junior Brayden Terveen placing sixth in the 400 meter run with a time of 58.12 and sophomore Tayshaun Cudmore earning seventh in the 1600 meter run by finishing in 5:09.80 and ninth in the 800 meter run by posting a time of 2:19.37.

Faith saddle bronc riders close out March with wins

Three Faith cowboys - Traylin Martin, Cole Elshere and Kash Deal - closed out the month of March in a big way as all three claimed saddle bronc riding championships at major events. Leading the way was young Traylin Martin, who overcame a series of equipment failures over the past few weeks to blast through the championship round for top honors.

Dupree, McLaughlin wrestlers place at state youth tournament

Wrestlers from the Dupree Wrestling Club and the Grand River Rattlers of McLaughlin were among those placing at the 2024 SDWCA State Tournament held last weekend in Rapid City. Paizley Holmes’ fourth place finish in the Girls Bantam 47 division was the best of the weekend for Dupree as she lost the consolation final by pin to Kinsley Ballert of Lead-Deadwood.
