Blake Williams, 26, of Piedmont died Saturday morning, July 18 in an accident in Meade County, five miles west of Union Center.
Williams, driving a 1998 Honda Civic, was eastbound on SD Highway 34 at 7:42 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line into the path of a 1996 Peterbilt tractor trailer pulling an empty gravel trailer. The two vehicles collided.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. Melvin Frank, 57, of Lemmon was the driver of the tractor trailer. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
