A large portion of South Dakota, including the north central counties, is in extreme drought level.
Robin Salverson, SDSU Extension Cow/Calf Field Specialist, says the drought is a severe problem, and doesn’t end at the Missouri River.
“During most years,” Salverson said, “if it is dry in western South Dakota we just need to cross the river to find hay, but this year everyone is in the same boat.”
