Thirty-two kiddies in fishing derby
Thirty-two youngsters registered and cast hook and line in the Little Moreau dam Tuesday afternoon in a fishing derby sponsored by the Little Moreau Sportsmen, as part of the Memorial Day program. Not all the children were lucky enough to make a catch, but 46 fish were caught, reported C. P. Brodahl, president of the Sportsmen’s Club.
Duane Kellogg received first prize for the largest number of fish caught. He hooked 14. He also tied with Monte Kraft for the largest bluegill. Other prize winners were: David
Other prize winners were: David Kraft, first for the largest crappie; Linda Schumacher, second largest crappie; Larry Fisher and Tommy Lippert tied for second largest bluegill; and Guy Stavnes, second for total number of bluegills. Dean Hagen received first prize for the largest bullhead; Marie Opp, first prize for the largest number of bullheads; and Duane Opp, second largest number of bullheads. Michael Kraft, Billy Larson and Lenore Lippert received booby prizes. Each child who caught a fish received a prize.

Mr. and Mrs. John Goldade and son Lawrence attended the graduation exercises of the Cherokee, Iowa, high school, Monday evening of last week. Shirley Alquist, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Alquist of Cherokee, and a cousin of Mrs. Goldade, was one of the graduates. Mr. and Mrs. Goldade also visited Mr. and Mrs. Linus Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Alquist at Cherokee.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Martian and family of Mobridge, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Quinn and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Lipp were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Quinn Sunday. In the afternoon, the new baby, Patrick Gordon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Quinn, was baptized, with Mr. and Mrs. Lipp as sponsors.

Thieves hit liquor store
The Isabel Municipal Liquor Store was broken into early Friday morning and some liquor and about $5.50 in cash was stolen. Eight fifths of booze was found hidden in the vacant building south of the store. Store manager William Lewis says the break-in apparently happened after 1:30 a.m. Previous to the liquor store breakin, someone stole some boots from Ed Mayer’s Shoe Shop.

Local couple honored here with open house Sunday
Approximately 150 folks registered at the open house honoring Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beer of rural Isabel on their 45th wedding anniversary. The affair was held in the Community Building Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Beer were married at Timber Lake June 15, 1926. Mr. Beer came to this country from Germany when he was about 18 years old. He is now 75.
All the children were present: Bernard of Gettysburg; Fred, Jr. of Pierre; John of Timber Lake; Adolph and LeRoy, both of Isabel; Mary (Mrs. Bill Alley) Isabel; and Alice (Mrs. James Hulm) of Timber Lake; A daughter, Louise, died in 1946.

Grace Scholl leaving PCH
Physician Assistant Grace Scholl is no longer working at the Prairie Community Health clinics.
She will no longer be seeing patients at Isabel Community Clinic, Family Health Center at Eagle Butte and Faith Community Health Center.
Prairie Community Health executive director Pam Locken of Isabel would like people to know that although Scholl can no longer take appointments, patients are free to contact her with any questions they may have about their follow-up care.
Scholl plans to live in Isabel through the summer, although she will begin working part-time in Rapid City in the near future.
Prairie Community Health will be seeking a replacement for Scholl. In the meantime, the clinics are staffed by PA David Rollason at Isabel, Dr. Margaret Upell at Eagle Butte, NP Darci Harper at Faith, and PA Jade Bassett at Faith.
Grace and her husband Bill have sold their hardware business and plan to move to Rapid City, where Grace will be working with Dr. Richard Beasley.
