Postal Rates
The 20 cent First-Class stamp is now a reality, as folks found out when they attempted to mail a letter Monday morning. The new rate went into effect at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 1981.
The Governors of the Postal Service are responsible for the increase. The increase was not recommended by the Postal Rate Commission.
