Making a video with Michael Jackson
When Hollywood calls, you go. But if you’ve got cows to take care of back home, you don’t stay long.
Gumbo Lamb of White Horse made a quick trip to California last week to make a music video with Michael Jackson. Jody Luger of Ft. Yates and C. L. Johnson of Dupree also had parts. All three had worked as extras in the Kevin Costner film, “Dances with Wolves.”
Last week’s taping was of a video, “Black or White,” one of the cuts of Jackson’s upcoming album, “Dangerous.” The 11-minute video will debut on MTV, FOX and BET networks on November 14.
The scene that Lamb, Luger and Johnson worked on for three days will last about 12 seconds on the screen, Lamb said. Michael Jackson is dancing in the center of a circle of Indian dancers when the horseback riders come over a rocky peak in the background. The video was shot at Vasquez Rocks, a state park near Los Angeles.
They might also appear in the video about making of the video, Lamb said.
C. L. recently completed four months of work on the film, “The Last of the Mohicans.” When Gumbo came home to his family and cows, C. L. stayed for another job, where he drives a race car.
Did Gumbo get an autograph from Michael Jackson? “No, security is pretty tight,” he said. “But he did say, ‘Nice job, boys’ when he left.”
