Ashley Arpan of Timber Lake has filed a petition to run for Dewey County Sheriff as an Independent. He is presently Chief Deputy Sheriff.
The other candidates for sheriff are three Democrats - Jeff Ward, Chuck LeCompte and Tim Peet - who will face off in the June 7 primary election. The winner of that race will face Arpan in the November 8 general election.
