  • The two century-old 100-foot grain elevators located on the south side of Isabel will fall under a wrecking ball in the next few weeks. Neither grain crib has been used since 2010 and were condemned shortly thereafter. CHS, which now owns the property, said a 50-ton truck scale installed in 1985 will remain in place with plans calling for the construction of a new scale house.

The community of Isabel’s skyline will look much different in the next few weeks following the removal of the two tallest structures in town - the grain elevators - from the south side. Neither of the more than a century old elevators, owned by CHS River Plains, have been used since 2010.
