In a step the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe (CRST) Veterans Service Officer called “long overdue,” the U.S. Senate on Nov. 17 unanimously passed a bipartisan bill to advance the work of a Native veterans organization.
The bill, sponsored by Sen. Mike Rounds (R-South Dakota), grants a Congressional charter to the National American Indian Veterans, Inc. (NAIV) organization headquartered in Eagle Butte.
