Bullhead, Wakpala women to serve prison time for offenses

Two women were sentenced last Monday, June 23, to time in federal prison on separate offenses on Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.Both Kaitlyn Shantell Left Hand, 27, of Bullhead and Malania Rose Fast Horse, 25, of Wakpala were sentenced in U.S. District Court by Judge Charles B. Kornmann.

Dewey County 4-H project days, getting ready for Achievement Days in July

By Rita Long, Dewey County 4-H Program Assistant Dewey County 4-H members are having some busy days and nights the past few weeks. Cloverbuds (ages 5-7) and Members (Ages 8-18) participated in 4-H Projects Day on June 12.

Eagle Butte native named executive director of PUC

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has appointed Eagle Butte native Leah Mohr as the agency’s new executive director. She has worked for the commission for the past 19 years, serving as the PUC’s deputy executive director since 2009.

State judicial system warns residents of jury duty scam

The South Dakota Unified Judicial System (UJS) is warning the public about a jury duty scam targeting people in South Dakota.UJS was informed earlier this month that the Stanley County Sheriff ’s Office in Fort Pierre received more than 30 reports in one day regarding suspicious phone calls.
