CRST approaching $14 million threshold for ARPA payments

The CRST Tribal Council last week rejected a motion calling for leftover American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to be paid to members who do not reside on the Cheyenne River Reservation and to extend the appeal process for members who were previously denied eligibility.

No parade at Days of 1910

The Timber Lake Rodeo Association has decided not to have a parade at this year’s Days of 1910 Celebration, which is set for July 25-28.
The TLRA had previously considered having a parade every year but later decided to return to the every-other-year schedule.

Corson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mike Varilek and his K-9 partner, Zigi, recently completed a rigorous six-week narcotic detector dog camp in Sioux Falls, SD. The duo are now state certified and on active patrol throughout Corson County. Zigi succeeds Taz, who was one of the most prolific K-9 officers in the state until his death this winter.

Corson County cops on the lookout for cows

Three different agencies are investigating a report of lost or stolen cattle from a ranch just west of Mobridge.
The Corson County Sheriff ’s Office, South Dakota Brand Board, and Standing Rock Tribal Police are investigating the disappearance of around two dozen cattle from the Darell Smith ranch.
