Dupree School receives Gladys Pyle Award

Dupree High School was honored to receive the Gladys Pyle Award from Secretary of State Monae Johnson. Johnson created the award to recognize schools for their efforts in getting students registered to vote. Schools that get 90% or higher registered are eligible to receive the award.

Fischer named new principal of Timber Lake Elementary

Kennedy Pearson Fischer has been named the new elementary school principal for the Timber Lake School District, moving into the role after six years as a middle school English teacher.Fischer began her teaching career in Timber Lake in 2020, shortly after graduating from Northern State University.

Timber Lake City making plan to meet deadline on ARPA funds

The June 1 deadline is quickly approaching for the Timber Lake City water project to spend $1.3 million of its federal ARPA grant money for the community water improvement project. The last reported amount spent so far was $557,346.05.

Comer appointed as presiding judge

South Dakota Supreme Court Chief Justice Steven R. Jensen has appointed the Honorable Michelle K. Comer as presiding judge for the Fourth Judicial Circuit.Judge Comer replaces the current Fourth Judicial Circuit presiding judge, the Honorable Michael W. Day, who is retiring effective June 8.

Isabel to study water rates in face of looming cost hike

The Isabel Board of Trustees is developing a comprehensive water and sewer rate study after receiving word two weeks ago that the community’s water provider - Mni Waste Water Company - is implementing system-wide rate increases that will carry it into 2027.
